2021 Important End-of-Year Reminder for Arkansas Businesses
Posted on: 12/16/2021 11:34 am
This is a reminder for Arkansas businesses from Secretary of State John Thurston that the end of the year is approaching and there are a couple of important deadlines coming up.
Have You Paid Your Franchise Taxes?
If you have not paid your franchise taxes for 2021, and do not do so by December 31st, your business will enter revoked status. To find out if your business is currently in good standing, search our database here:
Do You Wish to Dissolve Your Business?
If you are wanting to dissolve a business, the final date to formally dissolve and avoid accruing additional franchise taxes is also December 31, 2021. Companies that want to dissolve must submit all paperwork, postmarked by 12/31/2021, in order for no additional taxes to accrue. Please note that the Business and Commercial Services office will be closed on December 31st in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday.
For your convenience, Articles of Dissolution may also be filed online 24/7 at https://www.ark.org/sos/corpfilings/index.php?form_id=66.
At the time of dissolution, every corporation shall be required to pay the franchise tax for the prior calendar year and the minimum franchise tax for the year in which the business is dissolved or withdrawn. Even if a company is no longer in business, the corporation will continue to accrue franchise taxes until formally dissolved with the Arkansas Secretary of State.
If you have already paid your taxes and are in Good Standing and do not wish to dissolve or withdraw at this time, you may disregard this message. Please note that the Business and Commercial Services office will be closed on December 31st in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday.
