Payment still accepted for delinquent franchise taxes

(LITTLE ROCK) May 7, 2013 - Secretary of State Mark Martin reminded business owners that franchise taxes are past due but can still be paid.

“The annual deadline for payment of franchise taxes was May 1,” Martin said. “Businesses that have not yet paid their taxes and filed their annual report are currently delinquent.”

But it’s not too late to pay, he said. “We encourage anyone who has not yet filed these taxes to do so immediately.”

Filing the annual report and paying franchise taxes now will avert potential revocation of a business’ corporate charter, Martin said. “Any business that does not pay by the end of the year can have its charter revoked,” he said. ”By paying now, the business owner returns his business to good standing, instead of waiting and possibly forgetting later in the year.”

Franchise taxes can be paid online at, or at the Business & Commercial Services division offices, 1401 West Capitol Avenue, Suite 250, Little Rock.
