SECRETARY MARTIN OVERSEAS TO ENCOURAGE MILITARY VOTING.
(September 12, 2012) LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin announced today he is proud to be one of the half-dozen secretaries of state selected to go to the Middle East to review military voting procedures.
“I am honored to be selected to participate in this program to assist soldiers in the voting process,” Martin said. “These soldiers put their lives on the line, and it is our duty to ensure their votes are counted. I am also spending time with officials and soldiers to learn more about the challenges they face so we can improve the process.”
The Federal Voting Assistance Program and the Department of Defense sponsored the trip for Martin and other secretaries of state, enabling them to spend time traveling in Kuwait, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to meet with soldiers.
