Confederate War Prisoners Memorial
Located at the southwest corner of the Capitol, this marker was erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in memory of the Confederate soldiers imprisoned here when this site was occupied by the Arkansas Penitentiary.
The inscription reads:
This ground was once occupied by the Arkansas Penitentiary, which was used as a prison during the War Between the States by both Union and Confederate Forces.
This marker is erected by General T. J. Churchill Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, In memory of the Confederate Soldiers imprisoned here.
