Secretary Daniels Encourages Arkansans to Vote Early
Friday, Oct 24, 2008
Over 100,000 early ballots have been cast statewide since Oct. 20
LITTLE ROCK, AR—Secretary of State Charlie Daniels today encouraged the state’s registered voters to take advantage of early voting opportunities through November 3 for the General Election and Nonpartisan Judicial Runoff.
Early voting began Monday, October 20 and continues through Monday, November 3 statewide. The hours are
8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday,
10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays, and ending at 5:00 pm on November 3. Each county is providing at least one early voting location (usually the county courthouse), and some are offering additional satellite locations. Voters are encouraged to contact their local county clerk to determine early voting locations and the hours of operation for any satellite locations.
Over 100,000 Arkansans have voted in the first four days of early voting. Additionally, nearly 15,000 absentee ballots have been returned so far.
“We’re averaging about 25,000 voters daily in this first week of early voting, and I hope that number increases next week as even more voters decide not to delay having their voices heard at the polls in this election,” Daniels said.
Some polling places have shorter waits than others. Daniels advises voters review the five ballot issues on
VoteNaturally.org before heading to the polls to expedite the voting process. Pulaski County early vote location and times may be found at
www.VotePulaski.net.
Voting Reminders:
REGISTRATION
New voters must have submitted an Arkansas Voter Registration Application by the October 6, 2008 deadline to participate in this election. Voter registration information can be verified online at

In 2007, the state legislature passed a law allowing for the county-to-county transfer of voter registrations up to four days before the election. The deadline for transferring one’s voter registration for this election is
October 31, 2008.
BALLOT ISSUES
In 2007, the legislature referred three proposed ballot issues to the people to be voted on in the upcoming election. Additionally, Secretary Daniels has certified petitions for two other ballot issues. A listing of the ballot titles and popular names for the five ballot issues and the candidates that will be appearing on the statewide ballot can be found at
www.VoteNaturally.org.

Voters who will be unavoidably absent from the polls on Election Day may request absentee ballots from their county clerks. The clerk must receive the mailed absentee ballot request application by
October 28, 2008. Voters must return their completed ballot by the Election Day. Pulaski County voters may print off an absentee ballot application at
