Sec. Daniels Certifies Socialism and Liberation Presidential Candidates for November Ballot

(LITTLE ROCK, AR)—Secretary of State Charlie Daniels certified a petition submitted by the Socialism and Liberation political group allowing their nominees for United States President and Vice President to appear on the Arkansas ballot in the November 4, 2008 General Election.
The Secretary of State’s office verified 1,297 signatures on the petition submitted by the Socialism and Liberation political group. 1,000 valid signatures are required of political groups and independent candidates wishing to appear on the state’s general election ballot for the offices of US President and Vice President.
In addition to the recognized state parties (Democrat, Republican, and Green), the Libertarian Party of Arkansas and the Constitution Party of Arkansas have also qualified to appear on the General Election ballot.
The deadline for independent presidential and political group candidates to submit petitions to the Secretary of State is August 4, 2008.
