Plastic and aluminum recycling now available
(LITTLE ROCK, AR)—Secretary of State Charlie Daniels has placed plastic and aluminum recycling bins at six different locations on the Arkansas State Capitol grounds to allow visitors the opportunity to recycle waste that would otherwise end up in the garbage.
“I am happy to provide our visitors easy access to recycling bins for their water bottles and soda cans,” Secretary Daniels said. “As energy costs increase and landfill space decreases, recycling and reusing our resources just makes good sense.”
The receptacles for recyclable plastics and aluminum products are marked with signage and placed at the following locations: the north and south entrances to the first floor rotunda, the east entrance to the second floor rotunda, the snack stand on the third floor, outside of the Capitol Café in the basement, and at the north entrance to the Capitol Hill building.
The Secretary of State’s office has already taken steps to reduce energy usage by recycling its white paper and replacing most of the Capitol’s incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient compact fluorescent and LED bulbs.
The Secretary of State oversees the care of the State Capitol building and its grounds.
