Filers encouraged to registered before deadline
(LITTLE ROCK, ARK.) – In compliance with Act 318 of 2017, the Office of Secretary of State Mark Martin is now ready implement a new Campaign Contribution and Expenditure Reporting System. For filers and members of the public, this new online system is user friendly and will be a considerable improvement over the old system.
For online filers, the first requirement will be to complete a new notarized signature card. Filers are encouraged to begin the registration process by going to http://financial-disclosures.sos.arkansas.gov
to get started. There, users can find tutorials (which are linked below) on how to register:
The Registration Basics video gives step-by-step instructions on how to complete your registration.
For those who do not intend to file online, Arkansas Code 7-6-230 provides for exemptions and a method to file in paper form. These filers must submit a notarized affidavit (linked above) no later than September 15 for monthly filers or October 15 for quarterly filers. Arkansas Code 7-6-230(a)(2)(B) prohibits this office from accepting any further reports until the notarized statement is received with the first paper report following activation of the new system.
Effective at midnight August 31, 2017, the previous reporting system will be disabled and the new system will come online. All future reports on and after September 1, 2017 will be made utilizing the new system.
