Facilities Department - Master Plumber

Duties/responsibilities:

Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and to avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable work; strives to maintain consistency with specifications and codes.

Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes; joins pipes, installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, and water heaters.

 

Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.

 

Prepares sketches showing location of installations and control diagrams.

 

Education/experience:

Master Plumber’s license required

Valid drivers’ license required

Eight years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent of education, training, and experience.

 

Skills and job environment:

Candidate should be able to read and interpret diagrams and blueprints; solve practical problems; deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.  Should also be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals and effectively communicate with others.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes/airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.  Frequently exposed to wet/humid conditions, toxic chemicals, high or precarious places, and outside weather.
